Pretty Ricky in the House
Week in Review: Sal contributor Pretty Ricky, (not Joe “Blue” Smith’s kids but PR from Texas ) spent some time in Florida this week, he took in some games and gave us a good report. This take is from March 16th, Yanks vs Astros. We should have some photos soon. Ricky’ s take makes me yearn for a cold beer or two.
I was at the game tonight with vs the Astros and here is a recap:
I got to the stadium just in time to wait for 20 minutes to park. Upon entering the stadium I headed to the Tampa Tribune deck and was on the right field line. I saw AJ and Jorge warming up and AJ was about 5 feet from me, I wished him luck, he acknowledged me and nodded. I showed the Swishawk my jersey with his name on the back and he pointed at me and was smiling. I also got a chance to meet JRZ, who is really cool guy. It was nice to meet him in person.
AJ started out strong, he struck out a AAA scrub on 4 pitches then proceeded to go 3-2 on every hitter before being pulled after 2 1/3 innings. His final line was 2 .1 ip / 2h / 4bb / 2k / 1 er. He looked terrible and he couldnt finish anyone off. Zach Segovia who wasnt even on the roster came in and got 5 straight outs to get the ball to Mariano.
Rivera looked a little off, but got out of the inning unscathed. Hughesy threw 4 solid innings and looked good. The Swishawk got everything going with an RBI double to left. AJ then gave it right back with a walk and a laser over Granderson’s head. Tex hit an absolute bomb to right center which I tried to go after but it was 2 sections over. A middle aged man tried to jump over the seats to get the ball but ended up laying on the concrete as a kid in front of him picked up the ball. Posada looked real good at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI. Gardy actually swung the bat, he flied out twice, and got an infield single. Cano had chances to drive in runs and grounded out weakly to the 2nd baseman. Granderson looked awful with 2 punchouts and 19 hopper to the 1st baseman.
The day ended with a Yankee win. I have heard that the game tomorrow in Clearwater could be moved to a night game due to rain. I will try and go to that game, but if not I will be at Thursday’s game vs the Rays.

Sal, it says on Yankees.com that both games will be broadcast today on MLB.TV but the afternoon game is not on the schedule for the day. Have you been able to login there?

Grandersons awful .160 BA is 2 points higher than Carl Crawfords this spring.

I am getting audio on a couple of games but I am getting nothing when I click on the Yankee game. I am supposed to have the same package I had last year.

I am getting the Yankee audio but no video. I think I am hearing Flaherty and Lorenz so its the YES broadcast. Not sure whats going on but I will get to the bottom of it.

hey bro I just found PR’s take on a game this week so i wanted to get it up. I’m gonna try to log on now. I tell you I did get on once and get the audio now that you mention it, in fact I think it was the first time I tried, but since then I keep getting error messages, I’ll try it now and get back to you.

That is weird because I really did get audio the first time I logged on, no video but audio, but now it’s blocking me. Unless I’m doing something wrong. I’ll try to reset the e-mail address next.

J I tried that also, I do get confused with that stuff though, so thanks for the tip. That might be the case J I might have logged on when you weren’t at some point. They might have put the clamps on things, maybe check with the fellas see if they’re having an issue, when you get a chance no hurry, enjoy the game. I think it’s on YES that might be why your getting blacked out? Although your in Tampa

Funny J I just got a call from Bruce Katz he’s at the game sitting behind the dugout, first base line, he’s with a guitar player friend, their in Fla passing through and took in the game today. He said he’s having a miserable time hahahaha, the guy he’s with is a Yankee fan.
Nice line by CC, D-Rob and Park looked great last night
How about Cornell putting the whip ass on Temple, great tourney so far. Al got one today

Read the dorky stuff this morning, too much. That cat is a freak, he used to go by yazmaf and just drive everybody nuts.
I didnt even fill out a single bracket and I am happy I didnt, I would have lost Sweet 16 teams yesterday and a few Elite 8 teams too.

I am filling out a bracket and trying to be honest about what I would have done. I am stuck at a sweet 16 matchup between G’Town/Ohio St. and I am trying to convince myself that I would have taken Ohio St even if I didnt know G’Town was knoced out in the 1st round. I also think either Kansas or Kentucky is gonna lose in the round of 8 just not sure which.

J I have my final 8 left but my bracket blew up first game of the day, yesterday was lethal for brackets. Purdue took enough shit they’re pounding Siena. J I took Ohio St because everybody was on Kansas I was just trying to be different, plus i like that turner kid, I guess when you have the best player on the court you might sneak in. Kansas is really good though. The big East just didn’t take the first round serious I think, not so much ND and Marquette but G-Town looked shocked and Nova was out played they got lucky

Sal- I sent you an email with the link to the photos. It is on photobucket. Some of the photos are from Wed’s game. I got some photos of AJ getting a pitching lesson from Dave Eiland, some of Montero catching everyone’s bullpen. There is also a photo of JRZ and I in there as well. I am proud to say I got to talk to Swisher and had my girl get a photo of him pointing out my swisher jersey.
Jrz- yesterdays game was nuts, there was no room up top, all the standing room only seats were taken. Some Devil Ray fans were talking shit. They actually think they can beat the yankees, not with that scumbag bullpen! They’re probably bitter the Yankees are bigger in Tampa than the f’ing devil rays.

Tom Verducci of SI.com said on WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan show that he expects Carl Crawford to sign with the Yankees after the season, because “nobody is going to outbid them.” The Yankees and Red Sox both love Crawford, according to Verducci.
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports says the Dodgers should spend more aggressively, especially considering they led the league in attendance last year.
Alex Speier of WEEI.com points out that Mike Lowell, Jason Varitek, Bill Hall and Jeremy Hermida will combine to make only $10MM or so less than the entire Pirates team this year. Why is that noteworthy? All four Red Sox are expected to be bench players.

Fellas a few weeks ago Sean Rodriguez was tearing it up, I know he didn’t do anything the night you were there, but could you tell if he can really play, especially 2nd base?

They have been moving Zobrist around, during bp on thursday he took grounders at second and took flyballs in rf. I wouldnt put too much stock in spring numbers. Enrique Wilson hit .462 in 2004 and Miguel Cairo took his job by mid april. The devil rays still have no bullpen, they will always be trash!

hahahha, I like your style, I forgot about Enrique, I do remember Gardner coming out of camp last yr as the Spring MVP or some shit like that. I hope Soriano isn’t the answer, and we’ve gotten to Howell Balfour and Wheeler before also so from your fingertips to Gods eyes we go. I’m still holding a grudge from when Cervelli got steam rolled in the Spring of 08

Most of my field bracket has blown up though, somehow my final 8 have survived the first round

J as bad as Wake is they have bigs that match up with Kentucky gonna be a nail biter for me I think, and St Mary’s matches up against Nova so bye to Nova and Wake but not easy in round two
