DallasBomber Rings in the New Year
Uncle Sal and BBT contributor DallasBomber7 came riding into town for his annual opening day visit. DB was nice enough to share his photobucket with us.
Some opening day shots thanks to Dallasbomber 7
Yes, I was there at opening day. My trip started with me going through security 3x at DFW as they mistook a 61 year old white guy for osama bin hidden.Things got better as I found my seat, and had an altercation with a fat mf, but I was moved and things were cool. This opening day was different from last years-the weather was worse, much colder. The gates opened at 11, last year at 10.I decided to get to the stadium very early,to beat the traffic. I drove across the triboro(now 5.50,last year 5),and unbelievably, there was no traffic driving up RiverAve to the garage across the street from Gate8(parking $23,last year$20).I took pics of whats left of the old stadium-it really is depressing to see-and waited on line for the gates to open at 11.This ceremony was unlike the others-in the old days, after getting rings, some old stars would go out to the flagpole and raise the flag-now with the flagpole behind the stands, the flag was already flying when we got in.The ring ceremony was great and the Yanks just beat the piss out of the Angels, which made the day a total success. There is something I don’t get-why do people pay lots of money to go to a game, then spend the entire time buying beer, pissing beer, spilling beer and rarely drinking it, all game.Makes no sense to me,who ate 5 hotdogs and drank water.

The next day was an afternoon game, and since I am over 60,I decided to try and get a ticket at the gate.I got there early, waited on a small line, and asked the nice girl for a senior citizen ticket. She said sure, but the view is slightly obstructed, its the only thing they have.I said great, gave her $5,and got my ticket. It was in the second level(I paid $130 to a broker for my opening ticket in section 407),and I got to my seat-the obstruction was this large yellow thing with a screen on it,the rf foul pole,I was looking right down the line! The seats were great, especially for $5-all the seniors were there,it was like afternoon of the living dead!!-lol.It was a great bargain, the only bad thing was Vazquez and the Yanks lost.It was great to be at the stadium and nice to visit NY again.
Jeter receives his ring from Girardi, as Whitey Ford ponders the open bar he’ll be sitting at shortly in the Boss’s suite
DB is on top of his game as he snags the 25 man roster and entourage on the first base line
